This isn’t a post about Pip and Estella {I’m no Charles Dickens}, it’s about that little upcoming holiday, New Year’s. There's lots to love about the New Year – the idea of a fresh start, an excuse to brush away the bad and a reason to open yourself to the new and exciting. Of course, I also really love the celebration of New Year’s Eve {who doesn't love a PAR-tay?} If there was ever a night to pull out your glitzy-est, blingy-est, most fabulous-est outfit, it's NYE. Despite the great outfits, the past few NYE have been a let down to say the least.

There was that one NYE where I cried {i know, i know}, the one where I accidently kissed a boy who was still in college {and I most certainly wasn't} or the one where I opted to stay in and to watch Gangs of New York instead {I love you Leo but that movie is scary}. You could say when it comes to NYE, I have great expectations. I can’t help but wonder if this year I’m bound to be inevitably let down. I have the outfit, now I'm just crossing my fingers.

What are you guys doing?

  1. I've never had a stellar NYE, in fact, I've never had plans good enough to warrant a special outfit. I hope your NYE is a good one for the books.

  3. Love this blouse. I'm feeling prints lately but am still shy of them. I'm trying to figure out how to work them into my wear and this is great inspiration.
I've had that teary NYE too, sigh. Hopefully this one with be better for both of us!

  5. I just found your blog, and I'm totally smitten! Consider me a follower! I just started my first real job (9-5 too) this summer, and it's been challenging dressing myself and corporate. It's great to know I'm not the only one! I can't wait to read more. xo

  6. That NYE dress is gorgeous (and what a fabulous price, too)! I'll be in Las Vegas (awesome), ringing in the New Year with my family. I'm looking forward to it, but not exactly looking forward to all the preparing I have to do before I leave tomorrow! :p

  7. I go to a friend from high school's party. Each year there are fewer and fewer friends there. There is always family there. She has owned a house in a different state for 5 years and comes back for the party so it's at her parents house. I have been there 8 years of the past 10. One year I didn't go and I visited my BF (now husband) where he was from and went his his friend and played Mario Kart for 7 hours with no food or drink. That was not fun. He thinks it was fun.
BTW my husband won't attend my NYE party. So I go w/o him. Yup that's how I roll. I don't let him ruin my party.
1 of the 2 years I missed was a year my parents went. Every year I go, both of my brothers go.
It is no wild party. I can't wait.

I like that dress and I bet you it'll look better on you that the model. You have a better figure.

  8. I love this look - that blouse has such great print and color with the neutrals, and that's a fantastic silhouette on you.

And I'm the same way with New Year's. I'm almost always sick (I am again this year, though my fingers are crossed that I'll be amazingly better by tomorrow), or plans fall through. So now, I either don't make any plans at all or keep things really low key. It's better that way for me! Hope you have a surprisingly wonderful New Year's, though.
