{Top: NY & Co., Cardigan: Ann Taylor, Skirt: Express, Belt: LOFT, Tights: Gap, Boots: Steve Madden}
This is would be me with my foot in my mouth {figuratively of course}. Here I was only a couple of days ago saying “oh yeah, I have this in the bag. I’m not planning. Blah blah blah.” Well no planning led to this slightly disastrous outfit. It’s not really the clothes fault. I take full responsibility. Actually, I think this would have looked great had I actually taken this skirt to get altered like I said months ago! But no, I was lazy and put it off. The result is that I felt kinda pregnant all day {not queasy or anything, more like a basketball under my shirt}.
These photos are the result of a lunch break photo session {thanks again to Annie}. But between the rain, the slightly crazy panhandler and using a flash {the horror} I didn’t get many nice {or flattering} pictures. If I was giving myself a new name {because I have been doing that lately. Outside Liz, Inside Liz} this would be Wet and Frumpy Liz. Now please excuse me while I run home and immediately start filling out a 30 for 30 calendar. And that, my friends, would be my street-cred going right out of the window.
Rain is never fun. Neither is having to walk over snow drifts to get a ride to work. Looking cute for me, today, isn't an option! I gotta say though, I love the pink cardigan. It brightens things up and I know bright colors cheer me up on crappy days :)
ReplyDeleteOh come on Liz. It's not THAT disastrous! I still love the cardigan on you and it will work great with the shirt and another skirt! Btw: I adore the umbrella. Been looking for one like that since my one broke!
ReplyDeleteGo spreadsheet calendar!
aw, I like rainy day liz! That umbrella is so adorable and I think your outfit works great. What an awesome photo location btw
ReplyDeleteIts not disasterous at all :) Love the pink cardi and booties especially.

Oh thank GOD that stylish people actually have (what they would consider to be) failed outfits! I changed clothes 4 times this morning, and I am only marginally satisfied with the end product. Something to be said for planning!
ReplyDeletei don't think it looks that bad! in fact, it's quite lovely! you can't really tell the basketball under your shirt and i think the long cardigan adds a slimming effect. and i love the navy tights with those booties.
ReplyDeletecute and little
please...you don't look frumpy. but i can sympathize. i definitely have those days where i walk out of the house thinking, "not bad, lauren," only to feel gross about an hour later. it's amazing how much it can affect your mood for the day. i have to say, i love the location for this shot. keep it on your list for more outdoor liz shots in the future!
ReplyDeleteOutdoor Liz is back, yay! I think these pictures are cute, it's great to see you outdoors. And that umbrella is adorable. =D
ReplyDeleteI think the only thing "wrong" is that the skirt feels a bit too long--I'm thinking hemming to just above the knee instead of just below? But the pink cardi and navy tights is adorable, and it's hard to go wrong with stripes. Don't beat yourself up--you still look cute!
ReplyDeleteRight there with you on the length. If I get the waist taken in like I've wanted to then it should hit right. I was wearing it in my hips - which is not something I like very much.
ReplyDeleteYou are way too self-deprecating! IT ACTUALLY LOOKS GREAT!
ReplyDeleteOh the FLASH! I couldn't tell you had used it, but I know what you mean. I think of the flash as my mortal enemy.
ReplyDeleteI personally like this outfit! Sometimes us fashion bloggers are just too hard on ourselves.
ReplyDeleteUm, this alley is GREAT. And this is the cutest umbrella ever. And whatchoo talkin bout Liz, this outfit looks great!
ReplyDeleteNo. Don't plan. Off the cuff is much more fun!
ReplyDeleteAnd that panhandler was just taking in the view ;)
The Auspicious Life
I think you look great! I love the color combo and the umbrella is awesome!
ReplyDeleteI love that umbrella! And I like your outfit too! It's a bit off, but just enough off to work :-)
ReplyDeleteI love that first picture. Too cute!!
ReplyDeleteOh hi cutie! I love these pictures!!! Did you recruit a photographer today? That umbrella is so adorable, I love it!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE these pictures - such great personality in them! And I love the pairing of pink and blue and stripes. You don't look like a Frumpy Liz at all!
ReplyDeletelove the outfit! (and the umbrella)!
ReplyDeleteIt seems that everyone had problems with their outfits this morning! I had something picked out last night, but when I woke up this morning and looked at my outfit, I was like "WHAT was I think?!?" I see what you mean about the skirt not quite looking perfect BUT you still look great!
ReplyDeleteRain or not...I love love love outside Liz! :)
ReplyDeleteYou look really cute!
You're too hard on yourself! You look great!
ReplyDeleteOh no! Snow drifts - that's sounds scary. Hope you made it to work okay.
ReplyDeleteI know, it's not that bad. But the photos {not these}, well, they were pretty much bad. Always tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteOh thanks! Just a random alley I found. Also probably how I found that panhandler.
ReplyDeleteOh I have failed outfits all of the time! But I try not to leave the house unless I feel good about my outfit.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lo! Putting your note down on a post-it. Must not forgot...good location. Okay, got it!
ReplyDeleteyes, a mortal enemy indeed!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I liked it....until I photographed it. Oh well, better luck tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteYou're spelling of whatchoo made me laugh!
ReplyDeleteI have to admit I did crave to some planning. But not nearly 30, so I will still have to get creative.
ReplyDeleteYep! My sister offered her photography talents. They were much appreciated.
ReplyDeleteoh my! i need this! pronto! :] love it! love the blog! i'm excited to catch up on all of your posts! :]

Disastrous my foot. You look great. I love the street shots. Maybe it's worth being accosted by panhandlers.
ReplyDeleteI want that umbrella ella ella eh (sorry I had to do it)!! I don't think you look preggers at all but I totally feel your pain. I take all these pics sometimes thinking I look cute and bam...I look preggo! I think mine is because I forget to suck in like a dumbo.
ReplyDeleteliz you don't look prego. but i feel you on being hard on yourself. don't be though! your umbrella and tights matching and your bright smile = great remix! :) i need to get things altered too but i'm lazy haha.
ReplyDeleteOk well Tired and Bloated Monkeyface thinks you look as fab as ever. I think the colors are really pretty together and the umbrella is TOO FUN! Also HIGH FIVE, Annie.
ReplyDeleteso glad I stumbled on your blog! I struggle with the creative energy and the corporate environment...inspiring to see you pull it off all so well!
ReplyDeletethat first pictures is precious! It made me smile! So bright and fun. And hey we all have those days.. even without the 30fro30!
ReplyDeleteI totally started this with a plan, but with unexpected weather popping up I'm having to go with impromptu outfits. I will say that the benefit of having it all planned out is that it takes less time for me to get ready in the AM. :)
ReplyDeletethat umbrella is perfect! and i love the boots :)
ReplyDeleteThat was totally me today!!! I have all these outfits in my head but when i got dressed this morning I must have been out of it! I felt preggo alll day.
ReplyDeleteI was just waiting for someone to ask me when I was due!!
So...I feel your pain!

I completely love the huge umbrella, and the outfit is not a disaster! I have the same boots, they are so great.
ReplyDeleteI dunno. I still think you look adorable! Everyone else is spot-on about being too hard on yourself...sometimes our worst critics are ourselves!
