{Top: Target, Skirt & Belt: JCrew, Scarf: Gap, Shoes: Macys}
So after divulging my usual morning routine yesterday, I thought I would try to get back in the habit of planning the occasional outfit. If you follow me on twitter you might have seen this image late {and by late I mean 9pm} last night.
The fact that my internet went out while watching Gone with the Wind might have had something to do with my motivation to plan this outfit, but so what. I planned and conquered. This skirt is a bit dressy so I paired it with a casual chambray shirt. I'll refrain from making a mullet analogy about business on the bottom, party on the top. Oh wait, I just did.
i love your scarf!
ReplyDeleteI'm in love with this outfit! Nice touch with the hot pink belt :)
ReplyDeleteYay Planning! It paid off for sure. I feel like there are some wonderful things that make this outfit complex yet it is so chic and beautiful! You have magical powers!

planning it out was well worth it, this is a favorite for me!
ReplyDeleteVery cute outfit, love how your dressed down the skirt with the chambray and pink accessories! and love your instagram photos!
ReplyDeleteQuick question... do you wear pantyhose to the office with skirts? I work in a corporate (business casual) environment, too, and I always feel weird about bare legs! More like... people just give me weird looks. But I HATE pantyhose.
ReplyDeletei saw your tweet last night and thought "that one is a winner for sure." and sure enough, it is :)
ReplyDeleteWe need to go shopping together, since we either have so many of the same pieces, or you have the pieces that got away from me. I wanted that skirt from JCrew, but they didn't have my size after it went on sale. I love how you paired it with a chambray shirt and colorful scarf. It completely balances everything perfectly.
ReplyDeletei'm absolutely loving this look!! nude pumps, a big scarf, and a pop of color from the belt -- this is what i consider a home-run outfit!!
ReplyDeletecute & little
That scarf is fabulous! I'm loving how everyone styles chambray shirts differently, though I'm still searching for one. I need one ASAP!
ReplyDeleteYou look so cute and Easter-y. I think I might go pick up that shirt!
ReplyDeleteHow funny, I just got back into planning my outfit the night before too! I used to do it all the time when I started the blog, but I had been slacking majorly! I am happy to be back into the groove!
ReplyDeleteOohh, maybe you should plan your outfits the night before more often, I LOVE this outfit! It's so figure flattering and has that "ready for spring" look! One of my favorites for sure!

I love the blouse with the scarf, and I wouldn't think that it could be made corporate-appropriate, but you've done a great job. This really is a good one... and my internet also went out last night, which I think is the only reason I got my work done and went to bed. I guess the internet-universe was looking out!
ReplyDeleteMy plans rarely turn out this mulletly awesome. The mix of neutrals is interesting enough but what fun little subtle pink details!
ReplyDeleteLove this mix and the pink belt on the black waistband of the skirt is perfection!
ReplyDeleteThink the pink accents made this look so girly and pretty! Gone with the wind is one of my all time favorites, so many florals and lace, feel like watching it right now, romaaaaance!

The Outfit Diaries
I love the mullet analogy! My friends and I just spent WAY too much time this past weekend discussing mullets and the phrase "business in the front, party in the back." Possibly my friends and I need to get out more.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this outfit. It's so feminine and pretty!
ReplyDeleteOutfit planning is crucial for me being on time to work. Except, I never like what I planned the night before. I really like how the belt looks over the band on the skirt. I might have to re-create that. :)
ReplyDeleteI absolutely adore the pops of pink in this outfit. And yes, this is totally a mullet outfit, but in a good way. Not in the Billy Ray Cyrus redneck scary kind of way.
ReplyDeleteI also swear you have tape on the floor for where you should stand. You always manage to stand in the same place, pretty much without flaw, each time. It's impressive, and scary at the same time.
Divergent Musings
Hahah I love the mullet reference! And the pink accents totally make this outfit for me.
ReplyDeleteCute outfit!
ReplyDeleteI love your blog. I have to say, it's so nice to see someone my age who wears office appropriate clothes! You rock.
thanks lady!
ReplyDeleteMagical powers?! I'll take it!
ReplyDeletethank you thank you, i kinda like it myself!
ReplyDeleteOnce it's warm I ditch pantyhose. Some of the ladies in the office who are older than me wear them but it's not required. Gotta free those legs in the summer time :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Tania :)
ReplyDeleteWe should go shopping Melaine! I probably should have waited until sale for this skirt but I couldn't. Thankfully I had a gift card so buying it at full price didn't sting as much!
ReplyDeletewoo-hoo! thanks kileen :)
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way Kinsey---maybe your post kind of encouraged me to get back to my old habits. I definitely need to get back to doing this more :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Lidi!
ReplyDeleteI got away from planning for that reason Ashley! But this worked out so I may have to do a bit more planning going forward...time will tell :)
ReplyDeleteyou make business appropriate look smokin'. i love it.

I'm a night planner, I have to be. Or I'd never make it out the door! Anyway, I love this--the scarf and the belt are such pretty spring touches!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous gorgeous scarf. And I love the pink skinny belt.
ReplyDeleteplanning is so nice... definitely wish i would do it more often!
ReplyDeleteI love your outfit! I've been wanting some nude pumps forever--they seem to go with everything.
ReplyDeleteSuper cute! I love how the pink in the scarf matches the pink belt. I don't think I've worn a scarf to work like that, but I should totally try it!
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit! Denim shirts are my new favorite, they look great with everything.
