Nothing like the good ole dress as a shirt trick to spruce up an ordinary outfit. I was feeling a bit stumped when it came to re-styling this dress. I had done the basic belt and necklace and then opted to change up the color scheme during my second act. But this outfit just goes to show how the 30 for 30 can press your style rules to the extreme.

Of course this outfit wasn't without it's imprefections. Halway through the day, I found a slit in my skirt that I never noticed before. Oh don't mind my olive slip co-workers, I just like to coordinate my under garments with my top that's all. Honestly, I don't think anyone noticed....until I pointed it out.

  1. I have that dress too - and I wore it yesterday!  As a dress though... I never would have thought to wear it as a top.  Very creative.  Love it! :)

  3. Wow! I LOVE how you did this! Amazed that theres no crinkling or bulkiness at all of the dress under your skirt! It looks fantastic as a drapey top and I really love the olive paired with the navy blue. Another perfect 10 Liz!

  13. That dress worked great as a top!! I've been thinking of trying it for my 30 since I'm running out of ideas but I just cant see how any of my dresses could fit under the skirts I picked.

  14. Well at least the day you noticed the slit was the day you had an extra layer on. Love the dress as a top. Plus, I think it is amazing that you have such a great spot to take your photos daily. The flowers in the background are gorgeous and add so much to the overall feel of the photos! - Katy

  16. You know, I wasn't sure that this skirt would be long enough either, but the gathered waist let me pull some of the material up a bit. Granted anytime I cross my legs at my desk you could see the dress.

  23. What a neat idea. I never would have thought to layer a skirt and dress but it's such a great way to get additional wear out of my dresses. Thanks for the inspiration! :-)

  25. oh no! embarrassing. buuuuut...also good that you had the dress-as-cover underneath skirt, right? right. and anyways, i totally would've had to point it out, too, just to make sure they knew i knew. heh. regardless of how often the olive color popped up, this is a beautiful color combo, liz. seriously. love this.

  28. I love a dress as a top! This week I wore a skirt as a .....well, skirt... but MUCH shorter by pulling it up under my armpits! I wanted to wear flats that day! :) You look adorable and I LOVE this outfit! Cheers!

  29. I think I've read this post 3 or 4 times, but I get so distracted by the sight of the amazing top that I forget to comment every time.  Today, I SHALL persevere!  And I shall say...nothing very interesting, except I adore that top- the color and the style are perfect- and I love that you match you underthings to your overthings.  That's dedication to style, girl.  :)
