You never know what you’re going to get with workplace comments about your clothes {see here for reference}. Like today, someone told me they really liked my dress. If you read the outfit details up there, then you know this is, in fact, not a dress. It’s separates. I tend to get this a lot, especially when I throw on a wide belt that covers up any inkling of a skirt’s waistband.
Now if only I managed to throw on a strapless bra {yes those are, god forbid, bra straps showing} I would be all set.
I could totally see that being a dress, the pieces look great together. I am happy that there seperates though because I feel like you could do so much with that skirt!
ReplyDeleteYou know, if everyone had a style blog, the world would be filled with less dumb questions. I had someone ask me why my "pants were so short", well duh, they are ankle pants.
ReplyDeleteYou look beautiful- purple is a great color for you!
Ha! Did that comment come from a man? Men know so little about women's fashion! At least you weren't told you look like you belong on a widow's walk. A friend told me that at a party last weekend. What's that supposed to mean, right?!
ReplyDeleteI get that a lot too. Both the awkward comments and the bra straps in pictures. Darn it! Looking fabulous though!
ReplyDeleteoh man! don't you hate stupid work comments. i get the weirdest comments but then again i do work with about 200 men... haha. you look so good in that color liz! i want to come shopping in your closet. you have the best taste. EVER.

Showing straps is stylish (or at least I think it must be because we all do it?) I get the dress comment for skirts a lot too. Mostly from guy friends. Maybe they are scared to say skirt?

First of all, I love your dress too! Muahaha. Maybe it just means you do such a great job putting together your clothes that it makes the pieces look as if they're made to be together. Secondly, I actually wouldn't have noticed your bra straps had you not pointed them out, so ain't no thang. Thirdly, I LOVE THAT BELT. And the whole color palette happening here.
ReplyDeleteWork comments are fun! And if they think it is a dress, that just means you were very successful in styling it! Way to go Liz!

I'm loving these deep jewel tones for fall. Very chic
ReplyDeleteand dress-like. Ha!
This is so pretty! The purples! No wonder you got complimented on at work.
ReplyDeleteI've gotten the "I like your dress" comment to what is clearly an outfit of separates before too. I'm always tempted to correct, but I just go with it. A compliment is a compliment, right? I can see why they'd say nice things about this outfit--it's perfect, I love the color palette!
ReplyDeleteyou look great in purple hues!
ReplyDeleteLove that top, that's a gorgeous color combo! I don't mind the bra straps.
ReplyDeleteThanks Allie...and you're right, a compliment is a compliment. Just need to learn to nod and smile, lol
ReplyDeleteThanks Ashley!
ReplyDeleteLOL that definitely trumps any of the weird comments I've gotten at work. Way to go Jen!
ReplyDelete*squints* I guessss I can see bra straps. I just assumed it was part of the top. I've gotten "nice dress" comments when wearing separates too... it's just testament to our mad styling skillz.
ReplyDeletei love this outfit.. the colors are beautiful!
