You guys seriously ROCK! Instead of being all Liz, ew. You're weird, you were like Liz, you're weird and we kinda love it! Thanks for accepting me, unbuttoned pants and all.

It seems like it's Secret Week on 26 and Counting. I shared some childhood stories, a little truth about my suffocating pants and today I have another tidbit. I love dressing in the winter {not the secret, keep reading}. Partly because I love to layer {mostly because I love tights} but also because you can get away with the most basic {I'm talking caveman style} alterations. Take today for example and this skirt. I needed it to sit a bit higher. Usually I would stand in front of my mirror, mentally trying to will the skirt to alter itself {and wasting 15 minutes in the process}. For the record, this does not work. But sometimes eating a snack before walking out of the door does.

What is a girl to do? Well in the winter {it comes full circle friends} a safety pin of course! This cardigan conceals my handy work and it's a win/win for everyone. Unfortunately exposed safety pins aren't really in style so my craftywork doesn't last past March. So I'm going to enjoy these next few months when I can sit in my room and play pretend seamstress to my clothes. I promise, I'm gentle.

  4. Liz, you're weird and I love it. Oh, wait... someone already said that. Moving on... you know, you could always put the safety pin to the inside of your skirt and it would be less noticeable in warmer months if you didn't expose the whole pin.
I'm really jealous that you have that top. I love peacock feathers like nobody's business and I want it!!!

  9. Yay secret week! I may actually do things like that throughout the year- I just keep the cardigan on all year round (hot outside, but freezing inside), although I feel like belts are a fantastic quick alter, since you can let let it show.

  10. What a lovely outfit! I'm dying for a mustard cardigan. Need to find one asap.

Hahaha I pin so many of my clothes! Cardigans are a good way of concealing that. Also, if I have to pin a skirt, I wear a belt to hide that.

  12. I adore safety pins! They save my life on a regular basis. LOVE this cardigan, too. It's a gorgeous color. Winter's for sure my favorite season for getting dressed... And I'd love to know your hair routine! THAT was a mouthful. :)

  14. I missed yesterday's post but I must comment on the tight pant strategy to say - i am so happy im not the only one who unbuttons to deal with a bloaty day! I also have a giant belt that I like to wear when I'm going to be eating a bunch (like Chef's for UNICEF - I have eaten all the countries for the past 3 years running). The giant belt gets loosened throughout the evening but it helps to maintain a silhouette and hide the foodness. awesome.

  16. I love this cardigan so very much. If we lived closer I'd teach you to sew. Whip stitch= safety pin that people can't really see. I've sewn myself into far too many dresses. Hey if Miss Monroe could get sewn into her clothes so can we!
