I can already tell you that getting dressed this summer is going to be difficult. It's only been hot here for a few days and I'm already foregoing accessories and layers. This is making my life difficult because everything I know about being a self portrait taker {that's my term for style blogger} is about layering and accessorizing to nth degree {that's not a typo, I meant to say Nth degree}. See summertime, or maybe more accurately humidity, turns me into a person of functionality. Will these clothes make me hot? Which will make me sweat? Do they itch? Can I eat a full lunch wearing this?
Okay, the lunch question is something I ask year around but being overly full in clothes that make you sweat is double whammy. But back to accessories - sometimes they just weigh me down. So I took the belt and bracelet off. Good thing I don't consider sunglasses an accessory or the sun this morning would have blinded me.
Great skirt! I agree, my outfits tend to get a lot simpler in the summer. I do miss winter layering!
ReplyDeleteSometimes simple is best, especially in summer. You look cute!
ReplyDeleteMy morning work routine: Get coffee, get settled in my office, check out Liz's cutie blog. :)
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain about the heat! We had the option to wear jeans today...um no. You look too cute today!
I still think it's a pretty outfit, it's got enough colour and a nifty print to keep things lively. I love the ruffle on the top.
ReplyDeleteAside from earrings, I try to stay away from accessories in the summer. It's just too hot to deal with. This look is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI know, it is HOT! I feel like I'm being punished for how much I complained that the Cincinnati spring was lame this year ;-) I've been skipping out on the accessories too for a uniform of tank + skirt (or shorts) - you still look so snazzy doing it though! Ruffles are kind of an accessory on their own I guess...
ReplyDeleteAdorable! Such a happy color palette! don't miss the winter though, it will be back in NO TIME! ;)

This is a great summer outfit! You look cool and professional, and those colors are so pretty on you!
ReplyDeleteCome take a look inside A Working Mom's Closet
Love this skirt on you! So colorful and playful!
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling that the summer edition of 30 for 30 is going to be easy. I rarely want to put on more than two pieces of clothing in the summer. I guess it just means that we have to be more creative with the two pieces we do choose and with accessories.
ReplyDeleteYou are definitely work ready. most especially with that cute skirt and that top! Bring on the summer!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you! I love the ease of getting dressed in summer, but getting dressed without belts? Ug. I mean we could still wear belts, but then they trap all of the sweat and that just isn't going to happen. I guess it will be loose clothes that can allow a good breeze from here on out!
ReplyDeleteI'm right there with you about forgoing accessories in the summer. They just make me itchy. Love the skirt.
ReplyDeleteYes!
ReplyDeleteI want to look stylish when it's 95+ degrees out, but it's just too dang hot.
I totally agree. Trying to find that balance of stylish and warm weather appropriate can be trying.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Glad I'm not the only one who can't deal with itchy accessories in the summer.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jessica! I thought the colorful skirt/top balanced out the lack of accessories.
ReplyDeleteReally? I think it might be more difficult. Layering and accessorizing really help me change up the outfits during the challenge.
ReplyDeleteThanks Melissa!
ReplyDeleteAgreed! I need to just accept the warm weather and deal. Definitely better than snow and ice!
ReplyDeleteThanks! And I totally agree Viktoria! Earrings all the way.
ReplyDeleteLOL what a great routine! Walking to get lunch today was miserable. Not sure if my run after work is going to happen or not.
ReplyDeleteI have the same problem in the summer! Cardigans and belts are what I use to make my outfit "stylish" most of the time, and I am SOL in the warmer months!
ReplyDeleteI love summer, but my "creativity"/layering is definately lacking because of the heat. Simplicity is a good thing too, as in your outfit today. I love the Loft's springs colors!
ReplyDeletevery cute! i love the floral pattern :-)

Oh man, hear you on this one! Besides my personal and professional life taking over any free time I used to have, I'm really not inspired with the new hot & humid weather :/ I'm hoping that I can figure out some new fun combos, stat! You do look cute though - not much of a need for accessories when you have a bright floral print and ruffles :)
ReplyDeleteYou look fresh and summery. No accessories needed. I hate trying to dress for the heat. I would rather stay home in the AC.
ReplyDeleteJust discovered your blog and I love all your ideas for what a young professional should wear- so fashionable but so work appropriate! Now following :)
ReplyDeleteHere's my blog if you want to check it out: www.colormebluefashion.com
I know how ya feel! It seems like everyone else is having nice, cool Springy weather while we are in full-swing summer here! Thank you Florida. And thank you for the lovely birthday wishes! Seriously, you guys made my day!
ReplyDeleteI know exactly how you feel! This Dallas, Texas heat I'm trying to survive is unforgiving. You look adorable in floral! Where did you get those flats? They're the perfect neutral color that will go with everything!
ReplyDeleteDresses are the only thing I can wear on hot and humid days...not enough energy to try and deal with separates or accessories!
ReplyDeleteLove the outfit, but what I would like to know is how do you get your hair to stay so perfect in the heat?! :)
J.
Wow...do I hear ya! Summer is the worst for me too, the heat, the exposed skin when you had too much to eat in the Winter and ughhh the jewelry, why bother? Lol..
