If there is a color lacking in my closet it's red. Nothing against the color or anything {really, it's me, not you Red}. So what else is a girl to do when she has a color phobia? She's takes to pinterest of course. Maybe pinning lovely red outfits will give me inspiration for my own rouge ensembles. Or maybe I just wanted to type rouge ensembles. Do you have a color that tends to escape your outfits? For the sake of my ego, just say yes and leave me your sage advice in the comments. Thanks in advance, you're such a pal.
Orange. I am so afraid of it. The brighter it is, the more I cringe when I think about wearing it. In fact, this weekend I bought orange (coral) nail polish. My thought process is that I can slowly integrate it into my wardrobe. Start small (the nails) and then move on to bigger items. We will see.
ReplyDeleteBut on the other hand, I wear tons of red! So I love this look on you! Simple but chic (you always look so polished) and those shoes are amazing!
I think red is a toughie I wore red and yellow once and thought I was cute and then my coworker told me that Iooked like ketchup and mustard...super now I'm condiments, but I think you have it nice here it looks good with grey and brown and purple if you want to get a little crazy.
ReplyDeleteOrange, and yellow. And sometimes red actually. I don't have much of either color but I'm trying to work them in! I try to incorporate them in shoes, or scarves, or any kind of accessories. Layering tanks work well too, just gives a little touch of the color. Love this look!

Yellow for me. Also, I LOVE your hair here. So fab - would love to see how you get such great volume.
ReplyDeleteI'm right there with you. I have MAYBE 2 pieces of red clothing in my closet. A pair of red flats, {that I bought to go with my Sailor Halloween costume last year} and a sweater with a few red stripes. UNLESS you count the endless amounts of school t-shirts and sweatshirts. That's why I avoid red. I was a cheerleader in High School and our colors were Red & White. We had to dress up for allllll of the spirit days.
ReplyDeleteThen I was on the dance team in college for a year, and guess what! Colors are Red, White, & Black. By the time I'm out in the real world, Red still screams "SCHOOL SPIRIT" for me. And I run the other direction!

For your ego's sake, I am trying really hard to come up with a color I'm lacking. Yellow maybe???? I want more yellow. And green. But mostly your hair.
ReplyDeleteI have the same aversion with red, I don't know why either! You look fantastic in it though!
ReplyDeleteFor me, I think it's a skin tone thing. My number one deciding factor is "Does this make me look tan?" Since I have the skin of a English hermit and am allergic to the sun this is almost always a "think therefore I am" type of internal conversation. Yellow and orange tend to make me look sickly and green and certain reds make me look like the sixth grade acne version of myself.
ReplyDeleteI actually love wearing red, but for some reason own very few red things. The colour missing from my wardrobe the most is probably blue though. I've never been super fond of the colour in the first place and I find it looks wonky with my hazel eyes and dirty blond hair, although I'm trying to learn to love it!
ReplyDeleteMe too! I think red makes me look "washed out/pale". Maybe its just a red phobia of mine but I like one of the other comments about starting with red shoes. Baby steps towards a red outfit. Don't even get me started on orange...
ReplyDeleteRed is actually a color that dominates my closet for no particular reason. Your hair looks exceptional in these pictures. And the red looks great!
ReplyDeleteI like the red on you....shoudl wear more of it. It sucks that I can't really wear reds that bright because I have pink undertones, and it makes my face look like a tomato..lol
ReplyDeletehello Liz wow you are a hot fox! we went to bed last night as usual but when we woke up
ReplyDeleteme and ma gal were both wearing “garments” the type worn by members of the
Moron cult! Every time we tried to remove them we got an electric shock! Please
please tell us how to remove these offensive “garments”!
I don't have very much red either! I'm just not a huge fan of it on me. But you look great!

Honestly, I have quite a bit of red, or at least I did at some point. I think it's strange that I don't have a lot of blue, other than jeans. If blue is an option and there are other choices, I'll generally pick anything else.
ReplyDeleteI think you look spectacular in red!
You look great in red, you should wear it more often...it's so sassy!

Until recently I was right there with you about orange but it's kinda become my a stepping stone to wear more red. Is that weird? Plus coral is practically orange and coral is like the most popular color on the block.
ReplyDeleteAccessories are great way! And a great reminder that I need to pull out my red shoes :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Marissa! No tricks really just a lot of hair and natural volume...plus this humidity just makes my hair grow outwards lol.
ReplyDeleteSupposing I get into grad school my new school colors will be red and black which is a nice trade from the years of blue and white. Maybe I'll get into my new school spirit!
ReplyDeleteBut you have that fabulous yellow tank. And your photos always have that dreamy yellow hint. You can't say yellow - try harder Monk!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
ReplyDeleteI need to start wearing my red shoes again! First I'll have to find them.....
ReplyDeleteyes! pin more red and get inspired because it looks lovely on you! and i am really liking your hair 'do!
ReplyDeleteyou look GREAT! and i love your hair in this pic. red is a great color, but i am a little weary of wearing it too. i feel that its too loud! but i am trying to embrace color more and more. love the color on you :-)

You make red look good! I used to work at Target, and red has just become associated with that job; but I might reconsider my aversion now that I've seen your gorgeous outfit!
ReplyDeleteThat is so cute. I love it, and red looks really good on you!
ReplyDeleteI love your outfit ;)
ReplyDeleteI love mustard and yellow, but I'm just super scared to wear it AND I haven't found the perfect cardigan or shirt yet!
ReplyDeleteYou look lovely in red, so go for it more often :) I only recently discovered it for myself as well and it is such a great statement color!!!
