Today is Everybody, Everywear: Pattern Mixing. It's also my 4th EBEW since starting this round of the 30x30 remix {you do the math}. Somehow I've worn lace, yellow, a thrifted piece and now I'm pattern mixing! Basically, I am the 30x30 tortoise. While there is a good amount of patterns in my remix, most of them come in the the form of skirts. But seeing as I wanted both key parts of my outfit to be patterned today, I knew I'd have to get creative with 1 of my 2 printed tops. Since I am no a EBEW fortune teller, I wasted a few pattern mixing outfit a ways back {here & here}. To be honest, I don't think I would have put these 2 pieces together if it hadn't been for EBEW/30x30 fate. So to whoever is up there in the style blogger sky, I owe you. I owe BIG.

  3. That's why I love challenges such as Everybody Everywear--they push you to try things you wouldn't have ordinarily. And obviously, that's a good thing. This outfit = proof.

  4. Well it all worked out because you look fabulous!  I think polka dots go with ANYTHING, they are basically a neutral, right??  I also am loving that third pic, you look so cute!  Awesome Liz!

  5. I'm always intrigued by pattern mixing posts and am loving this challenge because there is tons of mixing going on around the blog! I have yet to figure out the science of it, I just can't rock the look. I've tried really hard but it's just a no go for me. I have to tell you that so far this is my favorite combo that I've seen. I love this outift and it REALLY works well together. At first glance it almost looks as though it matches. Great job!

  22. I love happy style accidents like this one- these two patterns somehow pair perfectly!  The 30x30 is so great for forcing you to work wayyyy outside of the box and discover things that you'd never have thought of before and no rush, you know, slow and steady...

  24. You've mixed two beautiful pieces in this post. I've never seen a polka pencil skirt but now I want one! The top is out of this world, the bright colors mesh so well with the black and white in your skirt. I've been thinking about giving the 30x30 challenge a try and I'm definitely going to review your 30x30 posts for hints on what pieces to select.

  25. I love this outfit! Even if you wouldn't have thought to put them together originally, I love how you ended up pairing them. I attempted pattern mixing this morning, but failed miserably.  I nearly gave up, throwing on a new dress instead.  Then I realized I needed something long sleeved to keep more warm in my cold office, so I grabbed a pinstripe blazer. Perfect!

  29. So so cute. You took such a blog pattern and mixed it with polk a dots. Good thing for the 30x30 and EBEW. You are now a pattern mixing genius!
