Remember way back when I talked about having 2 closets {of course you don’t, so here’s the link}? Before I moved and traded in 2 double door closets for one tiny cupboard of a closet, I kept all my work clothes separated from my fun pieces. While all my clothes share a tiny home now, I still get dressed with many of the same old habits. Sure there is a little bit of work/play crossover here and there, but for the most part I suffer from a split personality closet. Corporate Liz {which you seem mostly on the blog} and weekend Liz {who’s occasionally camera shy}.

It seems a little counter-productive {and costly} to buy clothes for two different styles so I thought I'd showcase my trials {and what's sure to be a few errors} as I try to bring together both sides of my closet. Let's call it, for a lack of a better phrase, Work It!

Today's look centers around my H&M romper. I tried to jump on the bandwagon but found myself putting this piece back on the rack time and time again. I figured at most I'd only get a few wears out of a romper during the summer months. Totally not a justifiable purchase, especially with no room for crossover in my corporate office, right? A little thinking out of the box and full skirt later, I transformed my playful weekend romper into a work appropriate faux dress. Maybe sleeveless won't fly in your office {maybe it will}, but add a cardi or tights come cooler weather and you're set! Change out the skirt and you have a different look everytime.

  1. Love it!  Rompers make me so nervous that's why I've never tried one.  You pulled it off VERY well!  I love the new "Work it" idea!  Can't wait to see what's next!

  2. I LIKE WEEKEND LIZ!  She should come out to play more often.  Especially if she's hiding super-cute items like that romper in her "non-work" closet.

  6. love your creativity)) I usually do same things with dresses- use them as a skirt, if the top part of the dress is not appropriate for work, or as pot, if the skirt is too short))

  7. Wasn't it rather... awkward, to be wearing a skirt over a romper, when you had to go to the loo? Romper logistics, they're not right for every occasion hah. Ever since I lost weight and a lot of my work clothes have become too big, I've been forcing myself to style my casual pieces into work-appropriate outfits. It's actually going pretty well. I really like the polka dot skirt with the top half of that romper, fun and flirty.

  9. Great work to play outfit!  My only concern with the romper under the skirt (I've tried this as well) is bathroom accessibility.  But it looks good.  Bladder be damned!

  14. Love it! I have a hard time with rompers because mine has a zipper in the back which makes peeing (excuse my vulgar words!) ridiculous. And I drink lots of coffee.

  19. I love this.  Recently moving from college student to college student with an office job has made me have to re-think a lot of my closet.  Now, I try not to spend too much money on clothes unless I can see potential for both work and play outfits!

  20. Aren't you sneaky!  I've come up with a lot of fashion shenanigans, but never a romper for work.  Kudos for the creativity.  I'm excited to see where this new feature goes.
