Typically, I'm all run on sentences and bad grammar over here, but today I'd like to be more serious. I'm wearing purple for a cause. My dear friend Suze works for a domestic violence shelter in Michigan so when she asked me to wear purple today in support for Domestic Violence Awareness month I gladly agreed.
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
1 in 3 families are affected by domestic violence. Domestic violence is a pattern of abusive behaviors — physical, sexual, psychological, and economic coercion — used by one intimate partner against another (adult or adolescent) to gain, maintain, or regain power and control in the relationship. Batterers use of a range of tactics to frighten, terrorize, manipulate, hurt, humiliate, blame, often injure, and sometimes kill a current or former intimate partner.
If you are in danger, please call 911, your local hotline, or (in the U.S.) the National Domestic Violence Hotline: (800) 799-7233 or TTY (800) 787-3224.
I think it's great that your helping your friend... and for such a good cause. You look lovely!

ReplyDeleteGreat purple skirt and great cause to be wearing it for. Not only will people comment all day on what you have on but that will allow you the opportunity to spread the word about domestic violence. Inspirational!
ReplyDeleteThanks for wearing purple Liz! You look fabulous and I appreciate that you were willing to participate and help me spread the word. You're a great friend! And now I know to pair that top with purple (since, you know, I have the same one!)
ReplyDeleteThis purple skirt is amazing. I so wanted to grab one of my own, but alas it's thrifted. I think I need to go thrifting with you - you have WAY better luck than I ever seem to. - Katy
