See that title up there? That would be my lame attempt at making a Lord of Rings of joke. If you got my Return of the King / Return of the Tree humor then we surely the best of bloggy friends. But back to this tree {not that I don’t love Tolkien, cause I do! But this blog is not about THAT obsession}. Due to a bitter winter here in Kentucky, the park has been looking rather grim as of late. So rather than using a brown, decayed landscape as my backdrop today, I’ve opted to return to the tree {get it?}.
Today was also my first “caught in the moment” moment. I’m almost certain this lady made an extra lap around the park trying to discern what the eff I was up to. I tried my best to explain it was for style posterity {isn’t that what a self timer and repeated posing say?} but I don’t think she was able put two and two together. In addition to being caught in the park {and the rain ruining my ‘do} this is also my look for Everybody, Everywear. In case you didn’t get the memo*, it’s Blazer Day. And if you're wearing your blazer don’t forget to submit to EBEW. Please and thank you.
Any persons who lost said memo somewhere in the infinite abyss of the internet should go ahead and add EBEW to their reader.
Great blazer, you lovely girl! Love how you styled it with a lacy skirt + red tights.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the lady will join in on our EBEW fun, too!
Haha ! Love the Lord of the ring reference !!!
ReplyDeleteLove the outfit. Love the pop of color with the red tights.
Come and see how I styled my blazer
http://a-pretty-nest.blogspot.com/2011/02/30x30-day-6-blazer-day.html
I need to get a tripod so that I don't have to wait until my boyfriend gets up or gets home from work to take my pictures...that's awesome that you got "caught". I'm sure she was confused. Sometimes when I'm walking around a crowded place, though, I wonder if there are any other people near me who took pictures of their outfits that day! There are so many in the blogging world I bet it's happened before.
ReplyDeleteCute outfit and I love how you styled your hair today!

sorry, friend, but i'm going to kill your LOTR reference with a Talladega Nights one: I like to picture my Liz in a cute professional outfit with red tights. "it says I want to be formal, but I'm here to party"
ReplyDeleteyou are so brave to take pics in public! and I love your outfit!
ReplyDeleteMy shopping list has chambray shirt and red tights on it...so of course I am loving this outfit on you! (And I'm a little jealous (: )
ReplyDeleteOh Lo, you're comments kill me {in the best way}!
ReplyDeleteThanks! It was misting during this shoot and by the end of it my hair was flat and gross. These are clearly from the beginning.
ReplyDeleteWhat can I say, I'm kinda a LOTR nut. I'm fairly certain the next animal I adopt will be named Frodo.
ReplyDeleteYou should! You should! YOU SHOULD!
ReplyDeletehehe! You are too cute. I have totally been caught in the act at the park. Once a lady asked me if I need some help. Apparently, she could see that I was struggling in my many laps back and forth to the tripod. You'd think people had never seen someone take a self portrait before. LOL!!!! (wait, I have never seen that before...until I became a fashion blogger...maybe my husband is right...we are a strange lot).
ReplyDeleteLove your red tights and lace skirt...and of course, I love the blazer!
those red tights are amazing! i love them with this look! and of course, i love this skirt!!!! ah, le sigh. you look adorable behind the tree! (: your pictures are giving me courage to venture out somewhere.... we'll see how that turns out!
ReplyDeleteI love the contrasting cuffs on your blazer and that skirt is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThe mix of textures here is just perfect. Gotta love those caught in the moment moments. Hahaha
ReplyDeleteHahaha, loved the LOTR reference! And I also love that lace skirt!
ReplyDeleteyour red tights are fabulous with this!
ReplyDeleteOk so I'm not Tol-keen (uh huh huh huh) but I still giggled at your post title even before I knew the reference. Just sounded important. :) And ya know as many people that have passed by me during outfit posts, not a ONE has asked me what I was doing. Thank goodness, b/c they best be prepared for a "your mama" kind of reply. WHATDOESITLOOKLIKEIMDOINGGENIUS.
ReplyDeleteOh and you look way cute :D
I adore your slouchy blazer. I've been looking for one for ages and haven't found it yet! Jealous. Especially with the lace and red tights!
ReplyDeleteLove seeing more of outdoor Liz! you look fabulous. I love the pop of the red tights and your necklace. Now this came out way better than my EBEW post haha.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the red tights and the lace skirt. Fabulous! I'm a LOTR nut as well. I think a LOTR marathon is calling my name.
ReplyDeleteThat second picture is my favorite, so cute of you Liz! Um...and that Loft skirt I love.
ReplyDeletelove how you styled the blazer with the lace skirt and the chambray shirt!! Those red tights add such a fun punch of color!!
ReplyDeletePeople never comment when they see me taking pictures, they just stop and stare...how annoying...move along people...
LOTR are my favorite books AND movies ever!! So I love the Entish feel of your tree background :) In fact, I hope you refer to this tree as Treebeard from now on :).
ReplyDeleteAnd I LOVE this look! Way to totally rock colored tights in a completely professional way! I'm using you as an outfit inspiration!
How amazingly fun and cheerful that you added those great red tights! And the lace skirt with the denim shirt too. So much greatness mixin' it up here.
ReplyDeleteThis is too funny- I am wearing that exact skirt and a very similar blazer today, too!
ReplyDeleteReally cute blazer remix! I love that lace skirt to pieces.
ReplyDeleteI love the combination with the red tights and I adore that skirt!!
ReplyDeleteI also had my first encounters today :) It's a bit weird, but I guess one will get used to it. Nice to have the tree back!!
I picked up the Chambray shirt right before the challenge. It's from Target so knowing my luck it will be on sale in no time!
ReplyDeleteThis lady was walking like 10 dogs and they were pulling her around and I could tell she was trying to hold them back so she had more time to figure out what I was doing.
ReplyDeleteI'm still bummed I couldn't find this skirt in your size. It was all 10s and 12s. Good for me, not so much for you. You should totally venture to a park for photos - the odd looks you'll get are well worth it.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dotty!
ReplyDeleteI really had to refrain myself from making a tree beard comment but I didn't want to geek out too many of readers.
ReplyDeleteThanks! This blazer was a great clearance find - good fit and good for the wallet!
ReplyDeleteI love the mix of textures with the lace and chambray - unexpected and chic! Perfect pop of color with the tights, too!
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog, and I love it! Can't wait to see more!
I'm lucky I haven't had to explain my picture taking yet!
ReplyDeleteYou're sooo cute in this outfit..I love the mixture of lace, denim and RED!

I love this whole outfit!! But, those red tights had me at hello!!
ReplyDeleteyou should carry business cards with your blog address so that when someone stops and questions what you're doing you can hand them a card and ask them to check it out!
ReplyDeleteDone, and done. LOVE the red tights, and the chambray shirt that is playing wing man to your blazer.
ReplyDeleteAnd lucky for you, while I missed your reference, I do love Tolkien.
Love me some LOTR humor any day. Congrats on your first "caught in the moment"! Here is to many more! Cheers! Love the red tights with the rest of the outfit.
ReplyDeleteI really like this look. It's unexpected. Like I would never thing denim + lace skirt + red tights, but somehow it works perfectly. Awesome choice of location - even the tree colors are working for you.
ReplyDeleteYay, I got the memo! It didn't get lost under the piles of laundry and sippy cups this week;) Although, my look isn't nearly as cute as this - red tights?? Shut up.
ReplyDeleteI don't even want to know what would happen if I tried taking pictures by myself, outside, everyday. I'm also loving the colored tights! I don't know how I made it through the last challenge with only black, but I remedied that situation very quickly. And yes, I got the memo :)
ReplyDeleteI love your blazer look. Like that we both thought "blazers, skirts, and bright tight", even if I didn't wear mine all day.
ReplyDeletelove the tights girl :)
ReplyDeleteThe coloured tights are such a great way to excite an office-look! I love how you brightened up your blazer with the colours and textures.
ReplyDeleteack! i LOVE your skirt, and paired with red tights, a denim shirt, AND a blazer? pretty much all of my favorite things. i think i've died and gone to heaven...a heaven where everyone wears stuff i love...? hmm. i think i'll work on the analogy. but anyways, you look fabuloso.

ReplyDeleteso pretty with all of those colors! The red tights are so bright and fun.
ReplyDeleteYay, love the lace and blazer! Your red tights are awesome too. I love the awkwardness of taking outfit photos, people think I'm crazy haha!
ReplyDeleteI just got this skirt this weekend- I LOVE how you styled it with the chambray and the red tights!
ReplyDeleteThis must be one of my favorite outfits I've seen on 30 for 30! I have this skirt but didn't include it in my remix, with serious regrets. The red tights are amazing!
ReplyDeletehehe you are so adorable - i love Tolkein too :) Oh and those, "what the eff is she doing?!" moments happen to me all.the.time. :)

If you're really a LotR nerd, you'll enjoy that I grew up on Ent Road. Not being a LotR nerd, I never got why that excited some people so much. Does that mean we can't be friends? :(
ReplyDeleteHowever, I'll be a nerd of another kind and point out that tree has a parasite growing on it. But don't worry, it's not contagious.
Love, love, love the necklace with the collared shirt!
great combo. the tights are so bright, love them and the skirt os sweet!

ReplyDeleteI love denim paired with a classic blazer...it looks sophisticated that way. And the red tights are such a great pop of colour! Should try this out someday :D
I am really liking this red tights + lace + chambray shirt combination! I'm still bummed I can't find a chambray shirt that fits me anywhere! I'm sorry I didn't get your LOTR joke, but I assure you there's still plenty of nerdiness on this end.
ReplyDeleteI think this is my favorite outfit of yours! Thank you for the comment on my blog! I'm so glad you made EverybodyEverywear!!

ReplyDeletei looooooooove your skirt and red tights sweetie!!!
ReplyDeleteAhhh, your outfit is AMAZING!! Lace+chambray+red tights = utter perfection.
ReplyDeletePlus, your reference made my day.
[Although Treebeard would surely say: Tree? I am not a tree. I am an ENT.]
Liz you're such such such an inspiration! I never would have thought to layer chambray under a blazer! And I got your LotR reference before you even explained it! I was the nerd who in high-school had actually watched all of the bonus material that came with the extended editions :-)
ReplyDeleteI love everything about this outfit. The red tights are perfect, I'm also loving the denim shirt and lace skirt.

ReplyDeleteThanks Diana! I'm actually moving soon and I hope to find a place as neat as this park for photos.
ReplyDeleteEnt Road? How neat {says the LOTR nerd}! And really there's a parasite growing on the tree? Glad you told me that after the photos, lol!
ReplyDeleteThanks Megan!
